Love Crafting: A Sex Coach’s Guide To Rekindling Desire is my science-informed guide to understanding, activating, and sustaining sexual desire in long-term relationships, without pressure, performance, or the belief that something is wrong with you.

My name is Craig Cassey, and I wrote Love Crafting because desire is one of the first things people blame, and one of the last things they’re taught how to actually work with, when a sex life goes stagnant, leaving many partners asking: “am I the problem?” In my research and coaching practice, I’ve seen that most sexual struggles aren’t caused by low libido, incompatibility, or “falling out of love,” but by relational environments that quietly shut desire down and a complete misunderstanding of how desire actually works in our bodies – and I’d know, because I used to run into the same struggles too!

That’s what led me to a decade of researching the science and drivers of desire, love, and arousal, only to uncover that how we think desire works is often completely wrong! And the solution to a stagnant sex life is often simpler than you think, though not without some getting out of your comfort zone. The following book contains not only my journey of putting the science into practice, but a compilation of story composites from my near decade of supporting 1000s of couples in reimagining their sex life and getting their desire back online. 

My hope is that, in reading this book, you’ll discover that desire isn’t something you either have or lose, it’s something you can intentionally cultivate, again and again, regardless of the season of your relationship. And that the best sex of your life is still waiting to be had. This book is designed to help you understand how desire works in real life, why it disappears even in loving relationships, and how to rebuild a sex life that feels alive, connected, and genuinely pleasurable for both partners.

How the Book Is Structured

The book is written in three parts, moving from understanding desire, to shaping it, to sustaining it over time.

Part I: How Desire Actually Works

This section breaks down the science of desire, responsive vs spontaneous desire, attachment and arousal, and how emotional safety and threat shape sexual interest. You’ll learn why desire fades in long-term relationships and why this is not a personal or relational failure.

Part II: Crafting Desire

Here, you’ll learn how to intentionally craft the relational and erotic conditions that support desire. This includes how you communicate about sex, how you navigate rejection, how you create polarity and play, and how to repair erotic ruptures without shame.

Part III: Sustaining a Sex Life That Lasts

This final section focuses on longevity. You’ll explore how to maintain desire through stress, aging, mismatched libido, open relationships, kink, and changing bodies, so your sex life evolves rather than disappears.

Love crafting isn’t about chasing perfection or performance, but prioritizing pleasure, partnership, and play on purpose in a way that fuels desire over the longhaul so you’re never left wondering if the best sex of your life is behind you.

Craig Cassey is a relationship and sex coach, educator, and researcher who helps people build relationships that feel secure, alive, and deeply satisfying, emotionally and sexually. With a master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Melbourne, Craig blends cutting-edge relationship science with real-world experience working with individuals and couples who want more than just “fine” in their love lives.
